Meetings between the various political factions aimed at tackling the Presidential file are ongoing in Lebanon.
Mustaqbal MP Habi Hbeish visited General Michel Aoun, head of the Change and Reform bloc in his Rabieh home.
After the meeting, Hbeish briefly spoke to the press in, stating that various issues were discussed including the presidential file and that dialogue was important in order to find solutions.
In an interview with Al Jadeed TV Lebanese Forces vice president George Adwan commented on the claim that the Harriri-Franjieh presidential proposal was backed by foreign powers.
“All the advice received from ambassadors will not influence us, as we are aware of our interest more than they are, and we have witnessed how their advice has led to the destruction of major countries,” said Adwan.
After meeting Lebanese Forces leader Samir geagea, Kataeb MP and Labour Minister Sejaan Qazzi suggested that the deal etched between Harriri, Jumblatt and Franjieh is “facing obstacles,” saying that a President is unlikely to be elected within this year with the dispute possible dragging well into next year.
Azzi stated that no President will be elected with the support of the major political parties.
